hiMy friend’s taxes look like they are going UP this year! What’s up with that! We all thought they would go down even if only a little! Do you challenge it or let it go? The assessed value of her property has not increased anymore than mine (remember - assessed value is what the property appraiser’s office puts on your home - market value is based on actual sale prices) I live in Davie, Florida and my taxes should go down. My friend’s home is in Weston, Florida and her’s are probably going up. So what do you do?
In Broward County, Florida, you can appeal directly through the BCPA (Broward County Property Appraiser’s office. You need to do this ASAP - appeals through the Value Adjustment Board are being taken until September 18th.
A fellow colleague posted that there is a company that can help: www.taxsaversmiami.com - they have offices in Dade and Broward Counties - I’m going to contact them and see if they can help my friend and continue to educate myself as to the best way to approach a situation like this.
