A Little Bit Country and a Whole Lotta Rock and Roll

Sep 7th 2007
hi

AcresA little bit country and a whole lotta rock and roll, that’s what my community Plantation Acres is all about. For over 27 years I’ve witnessed so many changes and all for the better.

In the 1980’s, Plantation Acres was a sleepy little village of huge parcels of land, homes sparsely placed, places of worship galore, dirt roads and established horse farms. Where-something-to-do-on-the-weekends-horse-owners, gravitated to board their horses & trot around town.

Small well-known builders, including my husband, decided this was the place to show off their creativity, by designing and building larger estate homes. They were all taking a great risk, for the interest rates were at their highest and the market was down, down, down. The builders wanted to attract higher clientele and show them they could have it all. (big estate, tennis courts and exclusivity) It worked! Beautiful estates popped up everywhere. As it flourished, paved roads and city water were brought into the community.

horse girlIn the early 1990’s, one of the largest shopping complexes in the United States, the Sawgrass Mills, was inaugurated just one block from Plantation Acres. The residents were up in arms. Many believed that the community’s proximity, would compromise the area and all exclusivity would be lost. However it turned out to be a blessing, much to the residents dismay. It was straight of the movie, Field of Dreams, “if you build it, they will come”. Who would not want the pleasure of a beautiful private estate and have access to shopping five minutes away?

bestToday, Plantation Acres is known for its luxury properties, affluent neighbors including many celebrities, nature trail, equestrian center and centralized location. It’s refined living at its best!
