Village of Pinecrest A Favorite Place to Live!

hiIncorporated in the year 1996, the Village of Pinecrest has become one of the premier destinations for homebuyers in South Florida. This is due to several factors, all of which rank highly in prospective homebuyer’s minds:
(1) Location: located just South of Greater Miami, sandwiched between South Dixie Highway (US-1) to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, it is ideally situated for balmy sea breezes or for water access and aquatic sports on the weekends. From Pinecrest, one can be in the Coral Gables Business District or the corporate offices of Downtown Miami or Brickell within minutes, via Old Cutler Road or US1.
(2) Quality of Life: Pinecrest is comprised of secluded, shaded tree lined streets upon which sit beautifully luxurious estates, many on an acre of land or more! In addition, Pinecrest boasts one of the most highly efficient Police Departments with one of the lowest crime rates in the country.
(3) Quality of Schools: Served by Pinecrest Elementary, Palmetto Elementary, or Howard Drive Elementary Schools, as well as Palmetto Middle or Palmetto High School, Pinecrest public schools are among the highest rated in Miami-Dade County. http://pinecrest.com/schools/
In addition, it’s proximity to the University of Miami, located in Coral Gables, makes Pinecrest a favorite destination for UM students, families and faculty alike.
All these factors combine to make Pinecrest a great choice to live in and/or raise a family in Miami-Dade County. It is therefore no wonder that the Village of Pinecrest is one of the fastest growing communities in the area.

Longing for green space (yet living in a wonderful Coral Gables home with sidewalks perfect for tricycles and scooters) we signed on the dotted line for our dream house in Pinecrest eight years ago. We opted for Pinecrest on a single, solitary comment from Ron Shuffield (EWM Realtors), regarding the quality of public schools in Pinecrest. We moved.
Our two ‘older’ children went straight into Palmetto Middle. But, because of the quality of the magnet program at Carver Elementary, we continued to schlep our youngest child (through traffic… to the Grove) for another full year.
We finally opted to switch him to our neighborhood school: Pinecrest Elementary… literally down the street from us… a year later. For the first week of school he was miserable. Then came the smile and the bright eyes, and the question: “Mama… Why didn’t you move me here sooner?”.
Hindsight! We moved for all the right reasons: green space, schools, and quality of life. We couldn’t be happier, and I wholeheartedly recommend Pinecrest to people relocating to South Florida.
AND… the Village of Pinecrest now has sidewalks too! Vicki Restivo (restivo.v@ewm.com)
