The Greenest Christmas Tree

If you are looking to make a “green” decision about your Christmas tree, you will not be having to sacrifice the wonderful Christmassy smell of pine in your living room!
Experts at both Grist Environmental News and Commentary and at TreeHugger suggest that if you are concerned about the environment it is actually better to buy a real tree than an artificial one.
The possibility of reusing an artificial tree over and over leads many of us to believe they are more environmentally responsible. The downside is that they are made of PVC, a plastic which creates a lot of pollution when produced and which is very hard to recycle.
Ultimately, “farmed” trees are a renewable resource. And after the holidays the trees can be recycled into mulch. You can also consider the possibility of a live tree but have to remember that some types can only remain indoors for a maximum of about 10 days and will probably need to be replanted in your yard later.
