Real Estate – Why I voted YES on Amendment #1?

Carlos Ruiz de Quevedo, RA

I took advantage of early voting and voted YES on Amendment #1. Let me tell why I voted YES:

  1. I still value $240 (two hundred and forty dollars). I’ve heard some opponents and politicians say “it is only $240″. It may be only $240, but I rather keep it in my pocket than give it to government. Call me cheap, but I don’t like to throw away $240.
  2. I make my living in real estate and I have one buyer who wants to downsize and another who wants to upsize, but they won’t unless they get portability for their current tax exemption. Amendment 1 would help these buyers buy and that would help the local economy by getting real estate moving again.

Amendment 1 does not solve all the problems, but the alternative is NOTHING. It did not take me very long to decide. I hope you do as I did and vote YES on Amendment 1.

Great blog Carlos. I’ve been talking and blogging about Amendment 1 for all the reasons you just mentioned. Oh, and for the record, I bend over and pick up the change I see on the ground (and so do my children). Marty S.
