Susan Says - Where To Eat, Coral Gables & Miami

hiYou are showing property to out-of-towners. Everyone is famished after a busy morning seeing houses - the afternoon looms ahead - you need a break!! Where to eat? I like to introduce everyone to restaurants that say “Welcome to Miami!!!!”
Everyone who know me knows I like to cook - and I like to eat. So, I don’t like to stop just anywhere. I like to combine good food with restaurants that show off Miami without emptying my pocketbook. So, where do I take hungry clients?
There is nothing that says Miami more than Versailles, the Little Havana institution and the perfect location if you are in north Coral Gables. The food is reliable, everyone will find something they like (even kids), and service is fast. And of course a Cuban coffee will make sure everyone is awake all afternoon! If I am in South Miami or south Coral Gables, then Casa Larios in South Miami is the perfect choice. You can enjoy eating Cuban food and still get that great Cuban coffee to refuel for the afternoon. And let’s not forget Havana Harry’s in the heart of Coral Gables - good food and great service.
For a change of style, eating in the Courtyard at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables is another unique to Miami experience. The historic Biltmore hotel. A beautiful outdoor courtyard. Enjoying the great weather and relaxing atmosphere. Good food. After soaking up this atmosphere, it might be hard to get everyone refocused on the afternoon house hunting, though!!
And let’s not leave out restaurants with water views. Miami has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Restaurants with great views are notorious for having bad food - so what to do? Cafe Sambal in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel is a good answer. Prices are not low, but they are not in the stratosphere either, especially for lunch. The food is pan-Asian - and it has that million-dollar, only-in Miami view!!
I would love to know your favorites - where do you like to take visitors for a uniquely Miami experience?
