The city of Weston in Florida has an array of parks, from small passive parks to expansive athletic complexes.
WESTON REGIONAL PARK is a 102 acre park with extensive athletic facilities which include 8 baseball and softball fields, 8 soccer fields, 4 full size roller hockey rinks, 3 junior size roller rinks, I skate park, 8 baseball courts, 2 covered playground areas, 2 sand volleyball courts, 5 concession stands with restrooms, 3 picnics shelters with tables and grills, an 1.4 mile exercise trail and a covered event stage. All the athletic fields and courts are lighted. The Weston Community Center and West Broward Family YMCA facilities are located inside the park.
The Weston Community Center offers different types of activities for children and adults. Karate, Superstars Dance and Baton, Young Rembrandts, Musical Theatre Production, to name a few. The one I found most interesting (maybe because it wasn’t around when I had babies ) is KIDOKINETICS which is an introduction to physical activity for babies from six to eighteen months. Thru interaction with soccer balls, footballs, bouncy balls, bean bags, cones, hula hoops, tunnels and their parents, babies increase body awareness, learn coordination and balance and how to control their muscles.
The West Broward YMCA family center is a 42,500 square foot state-of-the art facility with an olympic size pool, a full court gymnasium, a wellness floor and much more. There is something for everyone including exercise classes, wellness programs, sports leagues, and a variety of aquatic activities. This center is committed to build a strong community. They support positive youth-oriented activities, reduce teen violence and keep teens safe. Hundreds of residents enjoy Weston’s free Moonlight Movies and concerts at the park.
