EWM Weston Offices Enjoy Summer Fun Nights — Karaoke At Deco Gourmet Restaurant

hiQuestion: What’s noisier and more fun than watching a mud-wrestling, alligator championship?
Answer: Realtors and mortgage brokers imitating American Idol contestants. Ariel Segall, EWM Mortgage, his true colors shining through, entertained us with his
rendition of “Yesterday . . . all my troubles seem so far away . . . ” until Fernando wrestled the microphone from him.
Fernando Marquez, Irma’s husband, led all the Brazilian numbers and was the only one who really understood what he was singing! Karen Bargery Ross ran through her Martina McBride repertoire, including: Independence Day, In My Daughter’s Eyes, Broken Wing, and Valentine, and sometimes she was actually on pitch. Cheri Kaplan eaked out some sexy Spanish number and had the dance moves to match as her “honey” quietly looked on. Mappy Salcedo whispered, “You are the singer; I am the show.” She had some movements of her own as she floated around the room getting everyone up and moving at the sound of music. Ines Garcia controlled the song choices and rotated the English with the Spanish with the Brazilian with the Spanish with the English and back again until the audience cried mercy.
Nora Dominguez crooned away as her husband Carlos shook his head in disbelief. Many joined in on Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer — Jason Kapit led the pack and I chimed in. I think I even heard Irene Urban’s southern soprano voice singing My Way. Some just joined in the food and not the frolic — hmmmm . . . Esperanda Atehortua, her husband Carlos and her daughter — and later . . . Migui Ruiz and her husband. After witnessing such vocal insanity from this group, Debra Bernstein and Dave Meier swore they would never be the same.
Brand new to our company, Miriam and Tom Reiss (pronounded rice), along with their son Andrew, joined this event even though it was Miriam’s birthday. Miriam was told — hey, isn’t it great . . . you have an instant new family! Miriam took the photographs just in case she would someday need evidence that would hold up in a court of law.
Where did all this take place? Deco Gourmet in Weston is owned by one of our very own, Sandra O’Silva. Besides a fusion of Brazilian and Italian cuisine, Deco Gourmetalso offers Karaoke (on a large scale) and the opportunity to make a fool of yourself on Wednesday nights. The food is absolutely incredible and the entertainment is, well . . . . anyone’s guess.
Will this EWM event happen again and again? Absolutely. Ditch your therapist. Singing is an incredible outlet — especially for our agents who are tackling the stormy weather of the current market.
“I sing because I’m happy; I’m happy because I sing.”

Oh, yes, Angela Graham joined in on the singing while husbandd Bruce looked on!
