Miami Beach Sets Standards for Growth and Development

Jul 20th 2008
hi

continuum-north.jpgBased on the recommendations of 3 consultants, Clarion Associates, TischlerBise and Glatting Jackson, the Miami Beach Commission and the city staff will draft ordinances that will put these recommendations into effect.

The commission wanted to find out how large projects, whose floor area exceeds 50,000 square feet impact life in the area.

Tania Valdemoro writes in the Miami Herald ”The consultants’ report said that Miami Beach can accomodate a “significant” amount of new development, - 7,287 more residential units and 8 million square feet of nonresidential development - before the city reaches ‘build out’.”

It is hard to fathom that in the  present over-saturated real estate market conditions the city could absorb more residential developmment. Perhaps this development might be applicable in a few years, once the economy has stabilized.
