hiFairchild Tropical Gardens (10801 Old Cutler Road in Coral Gables) opens it’s gates to the public (NO ENTRANCE FEES!) every Sunday throughout August and September. Grab a picnic basket and a blanket, and go for the day… Their TRAM SERVICE (that runs on the hour, starting at 10am, and ending at 4pm) is a great way to tour the 80 plus acres, filling you with ideas to take home: oodles and tons of backyard landscaping ideas! With an abundance of options you can: sit and relax… embark on your own… take the informative, pampered, narrated tram tour (for all ages!)… or head off on a walking tour (lead by brilliant volunteers). If it’s not pouring rain (or isn’t too sweltering hot!) you’ve got the makings for a nice outing… FREE. (Admission is normally $20 for adults/$15 for seniors/and $10 for children age 6-17). But on Sundays, both months, IT IS FREE! On Sundays at 10am Fairchild also offers their: ”Butterflies and Their Host Plants”.
