Living In South Miami

hiEvery community has its all stars and South Miami is no different….2009 marks the 45 anniversary of the McGlannan School established by Frances McGlannan in 1964…. Located just to the west of South Miami in Kendall at 10770 SW 84 Street the McGlannan School has set its goal of “meeting the needs of every child in each subject in an ungraded program rather than the lockstep approach of traditional education.” Many of our local children have benefited from Mrs. McGlannan’s approach which has permitted them to enjoy life to its fullest and become happy and successful individuals…. Besides helping our children Mrs. McGlannan has for many years lived in the South Miami area…
On another front popular former South Miami Mayor and present state representative (R-Miami) Julio Robaina has announced his candidacy for Florida Senate District 36 in 2010. I will never forget when South Miami Mayor Robaina came to the defense of the High Pines Homeowners Assoc. & helped the Homeowners Assoc. defeat a well funded developer’s plan to build an unpoplar development on the corner of Red Road and SW 74 St… Though High Pines was outside of the City of South Miami and offered no electoral benefit Julio Robaina stood for the neighboring community because it was the right thing to do… Lets hope for the best for Julio Robaina as he campaigns for the State Senate….
