Sunset Lakes In Miramar, FL – Safety First
Categories: Community Information, Miramar, Real Estate News
hiNot only is Sunset Lakes a beautiful place to live it is also a safe place to live. Recently a Neighborhood Watch program was developed to help make residents more aware of what is going on in the neighborhood and how to protect themselves against crime. The program is run by Dave Hobgood, a Sunset Lakes resident. Dave has recruited 25 block captains (including myself) to get the word out about the program and to link the resident’s together via an email system. The emails will alert people to be on the look out for certain activities and to keep everyone informed if the community suffers any crimes. The neighborhood watch program is in its infancy but already has over 500 participants who want to help themselves and their neighbors live in a safer environment.
Some of the tips that have been recommended:
- Install motion lights outside the home
- Install quality locks
- Keep hedges trimmed
- Keep garage doors closed
- Move valuables out of master bedroom
- Put lights on timers
- Use your security system
- Keep valuables out of cars (GPS, Phones, etc)
- Keep car doors locked
With the help of our neighbors we can all make our community a safer place. If you are a Sunset Lakes resident and have not yet signed up for the program please contact me and I will help you to sign up.
The next Neighborhood Watch meeting will be held on November 11 from 6 – 9 pm in the clubhouse.
