Just Add Water

Carole A. Smith

The former Versace mansion in Miami Beach went up for sale this summer. Many blogs have featured the estate (now a boutique hotel) as the most expensive residence in the United States, tied only with a Los Angeles property listed at $125 million. Wowza! That’s a huge price tag. We have nothing that expensive in Coral Gables or Coconut Grove but we do have some luxury estates for sale that have a hefty price tag as well. What do the most...Continue Reading!

Mango Festival at Fairchild Gardens: July 14 – 15

Carole A. Smith

How many mango pictures and recipes have you seen on Facebook from your South Florida friends in the last few weeks? I’ve seen recipes for mango crisps, smoothies, cocktails, ceviche – you name it, I’ve seen it! Mangos are a staple in South Florida and a delicacy. So much so that Coral Gables’ Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden has planned an entire weekend festival dedicated to this luscious fruit. This year’s festival held on July 14-15 will be the 20th anniversary of...Continue Reading!

HOMERUN: Miami Marlins Stadium

Carole A. Smith

The Miami Marlins may have lost their first game in their new, iconic albeit controversial stadium last night…but MIAMI WON! Regardless of where you stand on the impact of the stadium, you have to admit Miami’s downtown was the star of the opening game. Aerial shots over the impressive structure were infinitely enhanced by our shimmering cityscape on the horizon. Really, doesn’t this image make you want to root for our home team even more? I’m impressed.

Carole A. Smith

People often ask me how I spot “the perfect home.” Perfect is subjective, of course, but I can tell you what helps is when the builder of a home resides in it. Such is the case with my 5 bedroom, 6 bath listing in one of Miami’s best neighborhoods, Ponce/Davis. This stately jewel’s attention to detail is extraordinary – you can tell the builder designed it for himself! The interior rooms are beautifully proportioned with fine moldings, custom...Continue Reading!

Picture This

Carole A. Smith

Why do realtors have our pictures plastered all over the place? On our ads, our emails, our websites, our cars? Are we disproportionately more attractive than most other professionals? Are we the Paris Hiltons of the work force? Always camera ready? Hardly. Many think we slap our picture and name on anything because we love to see ourselves. That’s not the case. We use our photographs so that you can connect with us… So you can identify a significant life decision like buying or selling...Continue Reading!

Nowhere is this more apparent than in the luxury home market which is typically defined by million+ price point. But in my experience, price does not always translate into “luxury”. I do, however, have one spectacular Coral Gables listing in exclusive Hammock Lakes, 4825 Hammock Lake Drive, that epitomizes understated elegance...Continue Reading!
