The "U" street in High Pines which consists of SW 74 Terr., SW 50 Ct., & SW 75 St. is a microcosm of High Pines in general with new homes, older homes, remodeled homes, and 3 "disaster" properties. In the last 6 weeks all three of these distressed properties have been purchased and are either cleaned-up or in the process of being cleaned-up. 2 have been purchased by young families and the 3rd by a High Pines resident & successful...Continue Reading!
I met with Keith Donner this morning to discuss the High Pines rezoning request for 5450 SW 72 St.. Keith believes that the earliest this request could come up at a zoning meeting would be February so we are using this time to get organized, to write letters, and to sign a petition. Keith is going to get the correct address to send the letters, and we will provide a sample letter to use. Since we can't talk to members...Continue Reading!
I ran into my friend & High Pines neighbor, Miss Val, yesterday while we were walking our dogs. Miss Val mentioned that she was introduced to Ivette Agusti, one of the applicants wishing to change the zoning at 5450 SW 72 St. Apparently the applicants also wish to block the entrance to several of our roads similar to the blocked streets off Red Road. I guess this will put more traffic down SW 54 Ave. Ivette can be reached at...Continue Reading!

The owners of 5450 SW 72 St. (known to everyone as Sunset Dr.) have requested a zoning change from single family to semi-professional office district. This change is incompatible with the family neighborhood in High Pines & must not be allowed to happen. Once one change occurs it becomes easier for a second to happen & before you know it Sunset Drive will look like Bird Road. Take time to look at the nice homes adjacent to 5450 Sunset Dr....Continue Reading!
7401 SW 54 Ct closed 11/02/10 for $710K or $372.12 per sq. ft. Though the lot is large this is a good price for a remodeled 1946 house. Just a few weeks before this a 1950 house at 7750 SW 52 Ave. sold for $560K or $236.89 per sq. ft. To read my other blogs open this link. Last Monday I had dinner at Barrio Latino, the newest addition to Downtown South Miami's restaurant scene (actually it is located at 1559 Sunset Dr., Coral Gables). I had one of the ceviche dishes with my wife, and it was to die for. The real surprise was the staff who couldn't have been nicer or more efficient. Today I spoke with Astrid Ehrenstein, the restaurant manager, who mentioned that customer service as well as food will be the hallmarks of...Continue Reading!
