If there is a recession you would never know it in Downtown South Miami. Our friend, Miss Val is busy on a daily basis filling the parking spaces and keeping the traffic moving in South Miami's Blue Mall as well as being the font of all South Miami information. Here are pictures of a couple of the friendly locals: 1) Dorothia Higgs 2) Krista Rios & her uncle Tony Rios 3)Guillermo de la Paz & 4)Miss Val & retired Sone...Continue Reading!

There is a great, slightly older section of the South Gables called the Platinum Triangle.. Geographically it is located between Old Cutler Road, Erwin Road (SW 47 Ave), & Sunset Drive (SW 72 St.).Most of the homes were built in in the 50s & 60s but have been well maintained. It is a real neighborhood with lots of trees made for the family that likes to ride bikes or walk. There are seven homes presently listed for sale & there...Continue Reading!

One of the most popular sections in our market area has been "Ponce Davis" which attracted well-to-do home buyers & developers who were attracted to its close-in location & large lots. Unfortunately the higher prices of the area have been severly impacted by the ecomic problems of the last 2 years. There only have been 4 closings in 2010, while presently there are 3 pending sales and 17 active listings. Some "Ponce Davis" highlights follow. 5001 Pine Drive is the...Continue Reading!
For the first time in years I am going to say "Thank You" to a bank !!!! Thank you Total Bank. On Thursday High Pines neighbor Christina asked if there was anything I could do about the neighborhood house which had grass up to her chest. I went over on Thursday, took pictures, & contacted the bank's special assets officer at noon on Friday. Within a few hours Total Bank had a clean-up crew at the house. Now if all...Continue Reading!
Because of the general economic malaise which has stopped bank construction & renovation lending we are seeing few new homes and a smattering of remdeled homes on the market. When you are looking at a remodeled home or a new home it is key to buy one that has been done by a good builder & where enough money has been spent to get a good result. A quick and effective test is to run your hand over the molding....Continue Reading!
One of the things I like about Downtown South Miami are the restaurants. Formerly a restaurant wasteland (the best place to go for dinner was the diner at Sunset Drugs) and a booooring shopping area Downtown South Miami (which consists of portions of the City of South Miami, the City of Coral Gables & Dade County) has turned the corner and has become the "in " spot supplanting Downtown Coral Gables & Coconut Grove. Listed below are the restaurants that...Continue Reading!
