The City of South Miami selected an experienced individual to become the acting city manager. Roger Carlton who has been the the City Manager of Miami Beach and held various government positions since the 1970s will start as City Manager this Tuesday. Lets hope this works out so that the City of South Miami can continue to move forward .It would be nice if South Miami could be known not only as the City of Pleasant Living but also the City of Pleasant Politics.

One of the truly amazing things of the South Miami, High Pines and Coral Gables area are the excellent elementary schools….One of them, St. Thomas which is located at the intersection of Red Road (SW 57 Ave.) & Kendall Dr. (SW 88 St.), recently had its annual Auction/Dance…. The evening was a resounding success with over 400 guests attending its “Hawaiian Breezes” party…There were over 500 items auctioned off including a ride on the world famous Goodyear blimp…. St. Thomas is over 50 years old, has 425 students enrolled in grades from pre-kindergarten thru 5th, and a staff of almost 70…. Spring break is almost here and if you still do not know what to do with your little ones here are a few options:

THE WESTON FURY SOCCER CLUB

Open to all players ages 6-14 interested in improving their current level of play or

in just having some fun with training from nationally licensed staff.

Players will be placed in groups according to their age and ability.
Instruction includes: dribbling, passing, receiving, heading, shooting & goalkeeping.
Individual and group tactics. Small sided games. Mini tournaments.

I have to admit that, though I work out and try to eat well, I do make an occasional run (poor choice of words) to Jose Cuellar’s “Buttercream Cupcakes & Coffee” after dinner… Located at 1411 Sunset Drive, Coral Gables and just a short walk from the intersection of Sunset Drive & Red Road in downtown South Miami, Jose makes what I think are the best tasting cupcakes “in town…

Bermuda Springs is a delightful community that is located off of Indian Trace just South of Saddle Club Road. This gated community includes 206 single family homes, a playground, pool, and basketball court.

The homes in this neighborhood range in price from 209,000 to 399,900. There are several different models in Bermuda Springs they vary from the 2 bedroom 2 bath Ivy Hill Model to the largest 4 bedroom 2 and 1/2 bath Glenfield 4 Model. The homes were built in the early nineties and have either one or two car garages. Some of the homes in Bermuda Springs are located on the water with great views.

March 7th @ 1:30 p.m. The Velveteen Rabbit

March 14th @ 7:00 p.m. The 5th Annual Rock and Pop Masters Concert

March 21st @ 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Children’s Puppet Show
