I was talking with Miss Val when Jessica Hall & John Janette happened to walk by. John runs" town kitchen & bar" which is around the corner from the Blue Mall at 7301 SW 57 Court in South Miami. Town, as we all know it, is a restaurant not to be missed because the food is great and the ambience not to be beaten. John mentioned that Town has been very busy even in our hot summer. Friday night with...Continue Reading!

The New York Times recently wrote a great article about buyers in today's market titled "Demanding Buyers Hinder The Housing Market" Here in Coconut Grove, we have also noticed an increase in the number of buyers who are looking for a house that is "perfectly perfect in every way". Many times they will preview over 50 homes only to come to the realization that they cannot have everything on their wish list AND get the house at a discounted price. Most of the time these types of buyers end up...Continue Reading!

Homes don't come on the market with much frequency in the small subdivision of High Pines so I like to write about them when they do. This $2,050,000 home located on SW 76th Street has just been listed for sale. The home offers 5,568 square feet of living space on a 12,500 square foot lot with 7 bedrooms, and 7 baths. This home is the largest and highest priced property currently on the market in High Pines. Broker is Jorge L. Besu. To...Continue Reading!

Reverse mortgages can be a useful vehicle for people over 62 who have good equity in their home. Seniors can get funds based upon their age and amount of equity. Until now, sufficient equity has been pretty much the only requirement to qualify, and there has been minimal or no attention given to credit scores or applicant's incomes. The typical borrower is not required to make any monthly payments, and no escrows for property taxes or insurance are collected.
The Federal Housing Administration,...Continue Reading!

For golfers there certainly is a lot of green space to be found in Coral Gables. However if you are looking for the kind of grass where you can let your kids run free, check out these great outdoor spaces.
Fairchild Tropical Gardens tops the list for us as Coral Gables most beautiful green space - whether its a picnic on one of the sprawling lawns, a walk through the butterfly garden or a trip into the "Rainforest", Farichild Gardens is the largest and most...Continue Reading!

Traffic and children is an unfortunate problem at any school, but it has escalated to a new level at Sunset Elementary in High Pines, Miami, Fl. , and the principal, Dr. Leyte-Vidal does not even wish to discuss it. Traffic builds up each day on School House Road and SW 74 St. which is an uncomfortable but tolerable fact of life for the neighbors. The real problem is the problem of parking on both sides (yes on) of narrow SW...Continue Reading!

Quite a few things happened in the world of Coconut Grove real estate while I was gone. There were two waterfront sales - a home on Crystal Court sold for $5,500,000 ($785.00 a foot) and a home on South Bayshore Lane sold for $6,750,000 ($790.00 a foot). This brings our total sales in Coconut Grove up to $47,360,000 for 2010. That is $10,000,000 more than the amount that we had at the same time last year.
Second, there was a house located at 77 Bay Heights Drive which sold for $167.00...Continue Reading!

Sorry for the lack of postings last week but I was away on a much needed vacation to Harbour Island in the Bahamas. For those of you don't live here, the Bahamas are an easy flight from Miami and home to some of the best beaches in the world. Within just a few hours of leaving our doorstep, we were ankle deep in the pink (yes, pink ) sand of Briland.
